On our most recent day trip, we took a tour along the Rhine River with some friends. The trip started with a tour of the Castle Rheinstein, then we took a nice relaxing river cruise through the Middle Rhine where we had an amazing view of several historic castles and towns, ending the day in the town of Rudesheim, where we ate a late lunch, took a cable car up to Niederwalddenkmal monument for a great view of the River Valley, and walked around the historic town.
The following are just a few of the Castle we saw during the Rhine River Cruise! Many of the castles had been bombed and rebuilt, but others were still in their original condition. It was amazing to see so many massive structures.
Niederwalddenkmal Monument – commemorating the foundation of the German Empire after the end if the Franco-Prussian War.
View of the Rhine from the monument.
The famous narrow Drosselgasse Street in Rudesheim – visited by millions each year.
There was a motorcycle rally going on in Rudesheim while we were there and as we were leaving we saw the streets lined with motorcycles. It was interesting seeing so many of them in such a quaint historic town!
It turned out to be a very lovely day trip, and I’m glad we were all able to enjoy the rich history of the Middle Rhine Valley.
